What is the opportunity?

The Information Technology Services branch (ITS) provides the IT services to the BC Pension Corporation including; IT Operations, Application Development & Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Deployment and Mid-tier, and Service Management. Services are delivered from a team of dedicated contributors who provide ongoing support and transformational services to facilitate the execution of the 12/21 corporate strategy. Reporting to the Team Lead, Java/Web, the Lead Developer, Java and TIBCO will manage and lead a team in the provision of services required for development, enhancement and maintenance of the Pension Corporation's information systems. As the Lead and senior level specialist, they will provide expertise in the development and adoption of best practices and establish processes and standards to ensure quality services are delivered in support of the corporate strategy.

 

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Completion of a University degree in information technology, computing science, or similar field and six years related experience; OR
  • Completion of a diploma in information technology, computer science, or similar field and seven years of related experience; OR
  • A certificate, or program completion, or some course work, and eight years of related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and nine years of related experience.
  • Related experience is defined as experience in the design, development and delivery of enterprise Java software leveraging industry best practices and development patterns. Experience working with Java ecosystem technologies like Java, JavaScript, Spring, XML, JSON, SQL, JDBC, JPA, HTTP and/or JUnit.
  • Recent experience must include a minimum of one year (within the last 3 years) of experience working with TIBCO technologies such as TIBCO BPM, BW, EMS, Spotfire or Mashery.

Nice-to-have

  • Four years recent (within the last five years) experience, including:
  • Managing or leading a IT development team preferred;
  • Managing an effective team, including assignment of work and development and evaluation of performance plans, preferably in a unionized environment preferred.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with demonstrated experience with delivering solutions using the following products:
  • Spring MVC and other Java frameworks;
  • RESTful services and Swagger;
  • Java Message Service queues;
  • Oracles RDBMS and PL/SQL;
  • Ant, Maven, and Eclipse;
  • Jenkins, Subversion, Archiva
