What is the opportunity?

The Digital Experience and Communications Services Branch is responsible for developing and delivering communication services for the BC Pension Corporation, including transforming the member and employer experience from print to digital and providing strategic communications support to the pension plan boards of trustees and the corporate board. This includes strategic communication advice, planning, research, writing, editing, creative design, video/photography, and distribution functions for digital and print application.

The branch delivers confidence-inspiring and professional communication services across a variety of communication and service channels that increases member and employer engagement in a highly regulated and rules-based environment. This includes integrated member-centric communication products and services including: web and other online communications; print publications; media and public relations; and marketing.

The Director, Digital Experience and Communication Services is a thought leader in strategic communications across traditional and digital channels and the application of best practices in user experience (UX) to build compelling member and employer journeys. The director leads a team responsible for transforming the member and employer experience and providing strategic communications support to the pension plan boards of trustees and the corporate board. Working with the Director, Digital Enablement, they define the digital vision to create lasting relationships with plan members and employers meeting their current needs and establishing the future state for an omni-channel experience. The director drives digital initiatives, establishes key digital metrics, and demonstrates progress against goals. This experienced leader focuses on driving client engagement while building long-term brand value, casts a strong vision, and drives accountability with team members, other service providers and partners to maximize deliverables and return on investment.

 

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, English, Communications, Marketing or an equivalent combination of related experience, education and training may be considered.
  • Preference for a minimum 10 years' experience as a communications professional with excellent, proven interpersonal, presentation and writing skills.
  • Preference for a minimum of 5 years' experience leading an agile, digital product focused development environment with UX teams, designers and developers to iteratively create and improve digital communications.
  • Preference for a minimum of 5 years' experience analyzing and using customer insight and performance data to design and continually improve digital services to meet user needs in a convenient and straightforward way.
  • Experience establishing collaborative relationships leading organizational change associated with implementation.
  • Experience leading and coaching multi-disciplinary teams in the development and implementation of a diverse range of projects.
  • Experience of program development, including managing strategy development, governance processes, stakeholder communication, business intelligence and budgets.
  • Proven leadership in successful delivery of a program, especially those with a focus on digital communications; successful design, delivery and ongoing management of high quality services which maximized opportunities offered by digital technology.

Nice-to-have

  • International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) certification/accreditation would be an asset.
