The Assistant Director IT Security is accountable to ensure IT Security threats and risks to BC Pension's information assets are recognized and appropriate controls are implemented and maintained to protect those assets. When IT security incidents occur, quick decisive action is required to protect the systems that support delivery of five pension plans to 1100 pension plan employers and over 530,000 plan members.

This position will provide leadership and operational support or developing and implementing information technology security solutions and initiatives that support secure effective access to services. The assistant director will lead and oversee the development, implementation and evaluation of security policies and practices. Delivers day to day security operations while increasing security capabilities as risk increases to support the needs of growing complexity and diversity in plan design and administration.

Selection Criteria:

  • Computer science degree or college diploma with related experience required.
  • CISSP (Certified Information System Security Professional) designation or equivalent (CISA or CISM), preferred.
  • A minimum of five years' experience in security management.
  • Three or more years' experience serving at a senior managerial level in a large, multifaceted work environment with experience serving all levels of an organization and dealing successfully with executives, client groups, external partners, work teams and committees.
  • Experience in ITIL IT Services Management, project management, contract management, financial management and supervision of technical and professional staff.
  • Demonstrated high level of competency in people leadership, driving results, and strategic thinking.
