Business Systems Analyst Co-op

  • Duration: Fall 2023 + Winter 2024 (September 2023 - April 2024; 8 months)
  • Location: Victoria (our office is situated on the Selkirk Waterfront on the Gorge Inlet. Enjoy stunning views of downtown Victoria and the Olympic mountains and take advantage of the nearby Galloping Goose Regional Trail for walking and biking).
  • Salary: $1,819.12 bi-weekly (for students working towards a diploma or bachelor's degree) or $2,136.88 (for students working towards a post-graduate degree)
  • Grant: As part of our inVESTED scholarship program, you may be eligible for reimbursement up to a maximum of $1,000 per four-month work term to cover the cost of co-op work term tuition fees.

  • Team: As part of the Information & Technology Services Division, the Business Services Branch offer the following services: delivery of technology solutions, business process management, business analysis, system testing and technical writing.

The Job Responsibilities

  • Participates in business area analysis and business systems design projects.
  • Uses business analysis tools and methods to develop and recommend technology or procedural solutions and alternatives.
  • Investigates, collects, analyzes, and documents information to support recommendations, including business cases, technical feasibility studies, impact on existing systems or business processes, security, privacy and resource impacts, and cost estimates.
  • Translates business processes into technical specifications, workflow, or systems diagrams, and prepares documentation.
  • Prepares educational materials and provides user training.
  • Support software testing and UAT activities on the project.
  • Arranges or provides rules maintenance, system maintenance and support including resolution of technical problems.
  • Assist in Identifying, estimating, and scheduling project activities and resources, including ongoing monitoring of deliverables during the project.
  • Assists with obtaining project resources and timeline commitments from all involved parties.

  • Experience in planning, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Exposure to collaboration and project tool sets like MS Teams, Share point, Confluence & Jira
  • Exposure to SQL/Oracle Databases

Requirements

This opportunity is available to 3rd or 4th year Computer Science and Software/Computer Engineering students and graduate level students studying Computer Engineering/Science or related fields.

Knowledge and/or experience in the following areas would be an asset:

  • Business Analysis
  • Solution design
