What is the opportunity?

The Assistant Director, Portfolio Solutions evolves the enterprise by leading and directing the development, implementation and evaluation of major long-term projects delivered through multiple project teams that are integral to our strategic goals. This position manages the day to day operation of the branch's key functional responsibilities of portfolio planning, management and governance, portfolio risk management and project delivery adopting agile practices where they can be applied appropriately.

The Assistant Director is the thought leader for portfolio, project and resource management methodologies and tools and for providing transparency into PM/RM key performance indicators (KPI's), while driving continuous improvement of the branch's capabilities to reliably deliver solutions to the business.

As an integral part of the digital transformation and operational excellence initiatives, this role has high degree of exposure to all areas of the organization. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader, who is solution-focused, passionate about continuous improvement and motivated by the opportunity to be strategically impactful.

What do you need to succeed?


  • Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or a related discipline;
  • Project Management Professional Designation or equivalent.
  • Five years of experience at a senior level leading major projects of large scale and complexity that have multiple project delivery components;
  • Demonstrated ability leading and managing complex portfolios in excess of 14M CAD/annually;
  • Experience implementing and supporting PMOs, including portfolio and project management (PPM) related process, tools (such as Project Server, SharePoint, PowerBI) and integrated systems to enable portfolio planning, full project lifecycle management, project resource and project financial management, (cloud based and/or on premise PPM solutions);
  • Experience managing relationships with senior level stakeholders and leading consultation sessions;
  • Experience leading, directing and coaching multi-disciplinary senior level professionals, including project managers and/or managers in the development and implementation of complex projects;
  • Experience with Scrum-agile practices and applying them to traditional PM processes appropriately.
